I designed a concept of a smart toothbrush app as a testing exercise for the Art. Lebedev Studio “Interface Designer” position.

Task

Create an interface for a smart toothbrush.

Key features

The app connects to the electric toothbrush via Bluetooth.

The brush’s sensors read information about the brushing quality: surface area coverage and pressure on an enamel. The app allows user to monitor the brush head wear and other device parameters. Achievements and brushing quality progress tracking motivate users to follow oral hygiene.

Brushing

Users can monitor the enamel coverage degree in real-time. If applying too much pressure on the teeth, the app will notify them. The timer is set to 2 minutes — the recommended brushing duration from electric toothbrush manufacturers.

Brush Dashboard

Users can enable notifications for timely brush head replacement. In addition to flexible device settings and analytics, the screen integrates partner products.

Rewards

The app provides gaming mechanics. Users earn rewards for proper hygiene and claim badges for various achievements.

Notifications

The app can send users reminders to brush, as well as other helpful notifications for promoting hygiene and discipline habits.

The result

The end result was an app concept that could improve oral hygiene through engaging mechanics of tracking progress and earning rewards for proper tooth brushing.
